   রুদ্রের মা বাবা একদিন এশাদের বাড়ি এলো ওদের সাথে দেখা করতে কিন্তু রুদ্র এলো না। রুদ্রকে না দেখতে পেয়ে সেই দিন এশার খুব মন খারাপ হয়েগেছিল। এইভাবে দেখতে দেখতে অনেকদিন কেটে গেল। এশা এবার কলেজে পড়ে। হঠাৎ ..............

    হঠাৎ এশার বাবা অসুস্থ হয়ে পড়লেন। তখন তার মা ঠিক করলেন এবার এশাকে বিয়ে দিয়ে দিতে হবে কারণ এশার বাবার কিছু হলে মেয়েকে কে দেখবে? এশা তখন কলেজে ফাইনাল ইয়ার এ পড়ে। শহরের এক ব্যবসায়ী ছেলের সাথে তার বিয়ে ঠিক হল। ছেলের বাড়ি থেকে বিয়ের জন্যে এত তাড়া দিল তার উপর আবার এশার বাবার শরীরটা ও খুব ভাল যাচ্ছে না তাই খুব হুড়োহুড়ি করে বিয়েটা সম্পূর্ণ করতে হল।

    এদিকে রুদ্র বিদেশে পড়তে গেল তাই তার বাবা মা ও ছোট ফ্ল্যাট কিনে অন্য জায়গায় চলে গেল। ফলে এশার বাবা ও হুড়োহুড়িতে রুদ্রদের এশার বিয়ের খবর দিয়ে উঠতে পারল না। এশা বিয়ের পর তার স্নাতক ডিগ্রী সম্পূর্ণ করল। কিন্তু গ্রামের সহজ সরল এশা শহুরে শ্বশুর বাড়িতে কিছুতেই নিজেকে মানিয়ে নিতে পারছিল না। যাইহোক গ্রামের, এশার স্কুলের প্রধান শিক্ষকের চেষ্টায় তার শ্বশুর বাড়ির কাছাকাছি এক স্কুলে তার একটা চাকরির ব্যবস্থা হল। প্রথম দিকে এশার শ্বশুর বাড়ি থেকে বউমার চাকরি নিয়ে বেশ আপত্তি ছিল কিন্তু পরে ওরা এশাকে চাকরিটা করতে দিল। এশার স্কুলের সব শিক্ষক, শিক্ষিকা ও ছাত্ররা ওকে খুব ভালবাসত। এশা ও এইভাবেই জীবন কাটাতে লাগল। এশার মা বাবা দুজন ই প্রায় সময় অসুস্থ থাকেন।  তাই এশা তার মা ও বাবাকে তার কাছাকাছি এক ভাড়া বাড়িতে এনে রেখেছে। এশার একটা সুন্দর ফুটফুটে মেয়ে ও হয়েছে। 

     কয়েক বছরপর রুদ্র দেশে ফিরেছে। সে এখন খুব ভাল চাকরি পেয়েছে। দেশে ফিরেই রুদ্র তার মা বাবাকে নিয়ে গ্রামে গেল। কিন্তু গ্রামে গিয়ে এশাদের আর দেখতে পেল না।  শুধু এশার স্কুলের প্রধান শিক্ষকই জানত এশা ওরা এখন কোথায়। এশা  অভিমান করে তার স্কুলের প্রধান শিক্ষককে বলে এসেছিল তিনি যেন কাউকে না জানায় ওরা কোথায় আছে। তিনি এশার কথা সবকিছু বলল কিন্তু ওরা এখন কোথায় তা আর বলল না। রুদ্রের মা বাবার ও সেইদিন খুব মন খারাপ হয়েছিল এশাদের না দেখতে পেয়ে। ওরা আবার শহরে ফিরে এল। রুদ্র যেন কারো অপেক্ষায় জীবন কাটাচ্ছিল।  

    দুর্গাপূজার অষ্টমীতে এশা তার মেয়ে ও শাশুড়ি কে নিয়ে পূজা দেখতে বেড়িয়েছিল। এইদিকে রুদ্র ও তার মা বাবার সাথে দুর্গা দর্শনে বেড়িয়েছে। হঠাৎ এক প্যান্ডেলের সামনে ওদের দেখা হল। রুদ্র এশাকে দেখতে পেয়ে ডাকল। এশা ও রুদ্রকে দেখতে পেল কিন্তু তার শাশুড়ি ছিল বলে না দেখার ভান করে চলে এল। হয়ত তার শাশুড়ি তার বউমা কোন ছেলের সাথে দাঁড়িয়ে কথা বলবে মেনে নিতে পারবে না। এমনিতেই এশার স্বামীর সাথে এশার সম্পর্ক ও খুব একটা ভাল নয় । রুদ্র ও রুদ্রের মা কিছুই বুঝতে পারল না। কিন্তু এশাকে দেখে ওরা বুঝতে পেরেছিল এশা হয়ত ভাল নেই। কিন্তু কিছুই যে করার নেই। জীবন যে নদীর মত যেদিকে বয়ে নিয়ে যায় সে দিকেই যেতে হয়। এশা ও হয়ত জীবনের নিয়ম মেনে নিজেকে এগিয়ে নিয়ে যাচ্ছে। 

   এশার সেইদিন খুব মন খারাপ ছিল সে এতদিন পর তার বন্ধুকে পেয়ে ও কথা বলতে পারল না। এশার চোখের সামনে যেন পুরনো দিনের স্মৃতি ভেসে উঠছিল। সারা রাত সে আর ঘুমতে পারল না। এইদিকে এশার মা বাবার ও দুর্গাপূজার সময়টা তে পুরনো দিনের কথা ভেবে খুব মন খারাপ হয়। তারপরই হঠাৎ এশার বাবার খুব শরীর খারাপ হল । তিনি এশাকে বলেন একবার গ্রামের বাড়ি নিয়ে যেতে। এশার শ্বশুর বাড়ি থেকে গ্রামের বাড়ি যাওয়া নিয়ে বেশ আপত্তি ছিল। কিন্তু বাবার এমন অবস্থা ও সে মেনে নিতে পারছিল না। তাই সে ঠিক করল সে তার মেয়ে ও মা বাবাকে নিয়ে একেবারেই গ্রামের বাড়ি চলে যাবে। একদিন  হঠাৎ সে কাউকে কিছু না বলে তার স্বামীকে একটা চিঠি দিয়ে সে তার মা, বাবা ও মেয়েকে নিয়ে গ্রামের বাড়ি চলে এল। সেখানে কিছুদিন কাটানোর পর তার বাবা ও মারা গেলেন। 

           এশা তার সেই পুরনো স্কুলে চাকরি পেল। সে গ্রামের গরীব বাচ্চাদের সেখানে বিনা পয়সায় কম্পিউটার শেখাত। গ্রামের অনেক ছেলে মেয়ে তার কাছে পড়তে আসে। এশা তার মেয়েকে ও সেই স্কুলে ই পড়াচ্ছে। তার মেয়েও মার কাছ থেকে বেশ ভাল কম্পিউটার শিখে গেছে। তার মেয়েকে ও গ্রামের সকলে খুব ভালবাসত। সে তাদের বাড়ির পাশেই, একটা তার ও রুদ্রের নামে একটা বৃদ্ধাশ্রম খুলেছে। তার গ্রামের বাকি বন্ধুরা তাকে এই আশ্রম চালাতে সাহায়্য করছে। এখন প্রতিবছর আবার আগের মত এশা গ্রামের সকলকে নিয়ে দুর্গাপূজা করে। এই বৃদ্ধাশ্রমের বৃদ্ধারা সবাই এই পূজায় অংশ অংশগ্রহণ করে। তার মার ও এখন বয়স হয়েছে তাই তিনি তেমন কিছু করতে পারেন না তবে মেয়ের পাশে থেকে মেয়ের সাহস যোগায়। 

    

        এদিকে রুদ্রের মা বাবার ও বয়স হয়েছে ওরা ও বাকি জীবন টা গ্রামে গিয়ে কাটাতে চায়। তাই এক দুর্গাপূজার ছুটিতে রুদ্র ওদের গ্রামে নিয়ে এল। গ্রামে এসে ওরা দেখতে পেল ওদের গ্রামের ঠাকুর মন্দিরে বেশ বড় করে দুর্গাপূজা হচ্ছে। সেই দিন ছিল সপ্তমী। একটু এগিয়ে গেলেই ওদের চোখে পরে এশাদের বাড়ির পাশে এশা ও রুদ্রের নামে একটা বৃদ্ধাশ্রম। তারপর ই রুদ্রদের বাড়ি ওরা গাড়ি থেকে নেমে বাড়ির দিকে এগিয়ে গেলেই দেখতে পায় এশা নিজে দাঁড়িয়ে থেকে রুদ্রদের বাড়ির বাইরে লাইট লাগাচ্ছে।               রুদ্র ভাবতে ও পারেনি এশাকে সে আবার দেখতে পাবে। তারপর এশা একা একা এত কিছু করেছে, রুদ্র হয়ত একা একা এত কিছু করতে পারত না। এশা ও রুদ্র কে আবার এই গ্রামে দেখতে পাবে সে ও ভাবে নি। দুজনের ই হয়ত আজ অনেক কথা বলার আছে কিন্তু কারো মুখে হয়ত ব্যক্ত করার কোন ভাষা নেই। এশার মত মেয়েরা সত্যি গ্রামের গর্ব।

         Suddenly Esha's father fell ill. Then her mother decided to marry Esha because if something happened to Esha's father, who would see her? Esha was in her final year of college when she got married to a businessman from the city. Esha's father's health is not going very well and also the member of groom's house hurry to get married. So they had to complete the marriage in a hurry.

      Meanwhile, Rudra went abroad to study, so his parents bought a small flat and moved to another place. As a result, Esha's father could not give the news of Esha's marriage to Rudra's family . Esha completed her bachelor's degree after marriage. But Esha was very simple girl of the village so she could not adjust in father-in-law's house. However, due to the efforts of the headmaster of the Esha school in the village, she got a job at a school near her father-in-law's house. At first there were many objections from Esha's father-in-law's house about her daughter-in-law's job but later they let Esha do the job. All the teachers and students of Esha's school loved her very much. Esha also started living in this way. Now Esha's parents are sick almost all the time. So Esha brought her parents to a rented house near her. Esha has given birth to a beautiful baby girl.

   Rudra returned to the country after a few years. He got a very good job now. After returning to the country, Rudra went to the village with his parents. But when he went to the village, he could not see Esha. Only the principal of Esha's school knew where Esha was now. Esha  told the principal of her school not to tell anyone where they were. Principal said everything about Esha but he didn't say where they are now. Rudra's mother and father were very upset that day not to see Esha. They returned to the city. Rudra seemed to be waiting for someone.

   On 2nd day(Astomi) of Durga Puja, Esha went out to see the puja with her daughter and mother-in-law. Meanwhile, Rudra and his parents went to see Durga. Suddenly they met in front of a pandal. Rudra saw Esha and called. Esha also saw Rudra but she could not reply. Maybe her mother-in-law can't accept her daughter-in-law talking to unknown boy. Esha's relationship with her husband is not very good. Rudra and Rudra's mother did not understand anything. But seeing Esha, they understood that Esha may not be well. But there is nothing to do with that. Life has to go wherever it flows like a river. Esha maybe follow the rules of life.

   Esha was very upset that day. After a long time he could find her friend but could not talk with him. Memories of the old days seemed to float before Esha's eyes. She could not sleep all night. Meanwhile, Esha's mother, father also  very upset during the Durga Puja, thinking about the old days. Then suddenly Esha's father became very ill. He tells Esha to take him home to the village once. Esha had a lot of objections about going from her father-in-law's house to her village house. But she could not accept her father's condition. So she decided to go  to the village with her daughter and parents. One day she suddenly wrote a letter to her husband without telling anyone she left her lows house with her parents and daughter. After spending some time there, her father also died.

    

     Esha got a job at her old school. She teaches computer to the poor children of the village for free. Many boys and girls from the village come to study with her. Esha daughter is also reading in that school. Her daughter also learned a good computer from her mother. Everyone in the village loved her very much. She has opened an old age home next to their house named "Esha and Rudra's old age home". The rest of her village friends are helping her run this ashram. Now every year again, like before, Esha celebrate Durga Puja with everyone in the village. The old women of this old age home all participate in this puja. Her mother is also old now so she can't do much but gives her courage by her side.

    Meanwhile, Rudra's parents are old and they want to spend the rest of their lives in the village. So Rudra took them to their village on a Durga Puja holiday. When they went to the village, they saw Durga Puja being celebrated in the Thakur dalan of their village. That day was the Saptami. A little further on, they saw an old age home named 'Esha and Rudra's old age home' next to Esha's house. Then when they got out of the car and walked towards their house, they saw Esha standing by herself and putting lights outside Rudra's house.

      Rudra could not think that he would see Esha again. Rudra might not have been able to do so much alone like Esha. He did not think that he would see Esha again. Also Esha did not think that she see Rudra again in the village.  The two of them may have a lot to talk about today but they may not have any language to express. Girls like Esha are really the pride of the village.
