পৃথা ভাবছিল রুদ্রের চাকরিটা পাকাপাকি হয়ে গেলে পৃথা ও সেখানে গিয়ে একটা চাকরির ব্যবস্থা করে নেবে। আর তাতে তাদের ভাল ভাবে সংসার কেটে যাবে। তারপর রুদ্র ও পৃথার মা ও বাবাকে ওদের সাথে নিয়ে রাখবে। সেই অপেক্ষাতেই পৃথার দিন কাটছিল। ....................
একদিন রুদ্র হঠাৎ পৃথার অপেক্ষার ইতি টেনে ফিরে এলো। ছুটিতে নয় একেবারে চাকরি ছেড়ে দিয়ে, সে বেসরকারি কম্পানিতে এত খাটতে পারবে না। আর কেন এত কষ্ট করতে যাবে তার কি টাকার অভাব আছে? পৃথার যেন চোখের সামনে সব স্বপ্ন ভেঙ্গে গেল। সে কি করবে কিছুই বুঝতে পারছিল না। অনেক চেষ্টা করল রুদ্রকে বোঝানোর কিন্তু পারল না। এদিকে পৃথার মা বাবা ও পৃথাকে বিয়ের জন্য চাপ দিচ্ছিল। পৃথা দেখল যে সম্পর্কের শুরুতেই এত ঝামেলা সে সম্পর্ক কোনদিন ভালভাবে টিকতে পারে না। তাই পৃথা ও এই সম্পর্কের ইতি টানল। প্রথম দিকে রুদ্র তা মেনে নিতে পারে নি। রুদ্র পৃথাকে ভয় দেখাল পৃথার মা বাবাকে অনেক অপমান করল। পৃথা ভাবতে ও পারেনি রুদ্র এমন করতে পারে। পৃথা নীরবে চোখের জল ফেলে সব সহ্য করছিল। কিন্তু নিজের সিধান্তে অনড় ছিল। কিন্তু পৃথার মা বাবা এত অপমানের পর ঠিক করল পৃথাকে ভাল ছেলে দেখে বিয়ে দিয়ে দেবে। পৃথার ও আর কিছু করার ছিল না। প্রবীরের সাথে পৃথার বিয়ে হয়ে গেল। সে পৃথার থেকে একটু বয়সে বড় ছিল বটে কিন্তু স্বভাব চরিত্রে খুব ভাল ছিল। প্রবীর ও পৃথার মত স্বাধীন চেতা। ভবিষ্যতে পৃথার চাকরি করাতে ও কোন আপত্তি নেই। সে ও পৃথার মত নিজের চেষ্টায় বড় হতে চায়। হয়ত এটাই পৃথার নিয়তিতে লেখা ছিল। কথায় বলে জন্ম, মৃত্যু, বিয়ে ভগবানই ঠিক করে পাঠায়।
পৃথার বিয়ের পর সব ঠিকথাক চলছিল। চার বছর কেটে গেল কিন্তু ওদের কোন সন্তান ছিল না। আশেপাশের লোকজন পৃথাকে অনেক কথা শুনাচ্ছিল। অনেক ডাক্তার দেখানো হল কিছুই হল না। পৃথার জীবনটা আবার একটা সন্তানের অপেক্ষায় কাটতে লাগল। এই অপেক্ষার যেন আর শেষ নেই। দেখতে দেখতে দশটি বছর কেটে গেল ওরা ঠিক করল দেশে কত অনাথ বাচ্চা আছে তাদের একজনকে এনে লালন পালন করে বড় করলে এই পৃথিবীতে একটা বাচ্চা মা বাবাকে পাবে। তাই তারা অনাথ আশ্রম থেকে একটি মেয়েকে এনে লালন পালন করে বড় করে তুলে। সেই মেয়ের নাম দিয়েছিল দিয়া। আজ দিয়া ও একটা ভাল চাকরি পেয়ে গেছে। একটা ভাল ছেলের সাথে ওর বিয়ে ঠিক হয়েছে। বিয়ের পর দিয়া ও শশুর বাড়ি চলে গেল। আজ আবার পৃথা ও প্রবীর একা হয়ে গেল। দিয়া, সংসার ও কাজ নিয়ে খুব ব্যস্ত থাকে। দিয়া দুতিন মাস পর পর মা বাবার সাথে দেখা করতে আসে। পৃথা ও প্রবীরের ও বয়স হয়েছে ভিন্ন দিন ভিন্ন শারীরিক সমস্যায় ভুগে। পৃথার চোখ এখন একবার দিয়াকে দেখার অপেক্ষায় থাকে।
এইভাবে মানুষের সারা জীবন হয়ত কিছু না কিছুর অপেক্ষায় কেটে যায়। মৃত্যুর সাথেই হয়ত মানুষের জীবনের অপেক্ষার শেষ হয়। আমরা তো মানুষ মাত্র যেখানে ত্রেতাযুগে নারায়ণ ও লক্ষ্মীর অবতার রাম-সীতা, সেই সীতা ও অশোক বাটিকাতে গাছের নীচে বসে রামের জন্য অপেক্ষা করতেন তেমনি দ্বাপর যুগে রাধা রানী ও শ্রীকৃষ্ণের অপেক্ষায় জীবন কাটিয়ে দিয়েছিলেন।

Pritha was silently enduring everything with tears in her eyes. But she was adamant in her decision. But after so much humiliation, Pritha's parents decided to marry Pritha with a gentle boy. Pritha had nothing else to do. Pritha got married to Prabir. He was a little older than Pritha but his behavior was very good. Prabir and Pratha both are self dependent.There is no objection to Pritha getting a job in the future. He wants to grow up and do some thing in his own hard work like Pritha. Maybe this is the destiny of Pritha's . God decides Birth, death and marriage.
Everything was going well after Pritha's marriage. Four years passed but they had no child. People in the neighbourhood were listening to Pritha a lot. Many doctors showed that nothing happened. Pritha' was again waiting for a child. There is no end to this waiting. Ten years have passed and they have decided how many orphaned children there are in our country. So they brought a girl from the orphanage and named the girl Diya and raised her. Now Diya is 20 years old. Diya got a good job today. She is married to a gentle boy. After the marriage, Diya went to her father-in-law's house. Today, Pritha and Prabir were alone again. Diya is very busy with family and work. Diya comes to visit her parents every two or three months. Pritha and Prabir have been suffering from different physical problems on different days. Pritha's eyes are now waiting to see Diya once.
In this way, a person's whole life may be spent waiting for something. Death may be the end of human life and waiting. We are just human beings where Rama-Sita incarnate of Narayan and Lakshmi in Tretayuga, Sita sat under a tree in Ashoka Batika and waited for Rama,and In Dwapar yuga Radha rani waited for krishna in her whole life.
