                                                             মেয়েদের কি বাড়ি হয় ?

                 বাড়ি মানে এমন একটি জায়গা যেখানে সবাই নিশ্চিন্ত মনে স্বাধীন ভাবে বাঁচতে পারে। বাড়ি কুঁড়েঘর বা দালান যাই হোক না কেন, বাড়ি হলও এমন জায়গা যেখানে মানুষ সারা জীবন নিজের অধিকার ফলাতে পারে। আমরা যদি কোথাও ঘুরতে যাই কিছুদিন পরেই মনে হয় নিজেদের বাড়িতে কখন গিয়ে নিশ্চিন্তে ঘুমবো। 

              কিন্তু আমাদের মেয়েদের কি কোন বাড়ি হয়? কেউ আমাদের  কাছে বাড়ির ঠিকানা জানতে চাইলে আমরা বিয়ের আগে বাবার ঠিকানা, বিয়ের পরে স্বামী, বুড়ো বয়সে ছেলের ঠিকানা বলে থাকি। মেয়েদের কেন কোন ঠিকানা হয় না তোমরা জান কি? যাযাবর জাতির যেমন কোন নির্দিষ্ট ঠিকানা হয় না। মেয়েদের ও ঠিক সেই রকম এক কথায় বলতে গেলে মেয়েরা ও যাযাবরের মতো। 

          একটা মেয়ের যেখানে জন্ম হয় ছোটবেলা থেকে যেখানে মা বাবার অতি আদর যত্নে পালিত হয়ে বড় হয়ে ওঠে, যাকে সে নিজের বাড়ি বলে ভাবে সময়ের সাথে সাথে সেই বাড়িতে তার আর কোনও অধিকার থাকে না তাকে অন্য কারো বাড়িকে নিজের বাড়ি করে নিতে হয়। তাও মেয়েরা আমাদের সমাজের চিরাচরিত রীতিনীতি অনুসারে ওদের পরিচিত বাড়ি ছেড়ে অন্য বাড়িকে নিজের বলে মানিয়ে নেই। কিন্তু কেউ কি কখনো ভেবেছে তাতে মেয়েদের কতটা কষ্ট হয়? 

        শুধু তাই নয় যে শশুর বাড়িকে নিজের বাড়ি বলে মা বাবাকে ছেড়ে এসেছে সেখানে ও তাকে সবার কথা মতো চলতে হয় নিজের স্বাধীনতা বলে কিছু থাকে না। 

       মৌ বাবা মায়ের একমাত্র মেয়ে। বাবার বাড়িতে মৌয়ের আদর যত্নের কোন কিছুর অভাব নেই। মৌ যখন থেকে বুঝতে শিখেছে তখন থেকে সে মায়ের সাথে একটু একটু করে বাড়িটাকে গুচ্ছিয়ে সুন্দর করে তুলেছে। কিন্তু মেয়ে বড় হয়েছে বিয়ে  তো দিতেই হবে। অনিলের সাথে তার বিয়ে হয়ে গেল। অন্য মেয়েদের মতো তাকে ও সেই পরিচিত বাড়ি ছেড়ে অনিলের বাড়িতে যেতে হল। সবাই তাকে বলল এখন থেকে অনিলই  তোর সব কিছু। ওর বাড়ি ই তোর বাড়ি। কষ্টে তার চোখে জল এলো। মনে মনে কেমন যেন একটা ভয় ও কাজ করছিল যেখানে কাউকে চেনেনা সেখানে গিয়ে তাকে সারাজীবন কাটাতে হবে। 

       মৌ নিজেকে আস্তে আস্তে মানিয়ে নিচ্ছিল আনিলের বাড়িতে। যদিও তাকে অনেক কথা শুনতে হত তাও সে সব কিছু মানিয়ে নিচ্ছিল। একদিন অফিস যাওয়ার জন্য মৌ কুর্তি পরে তৈরি হল অনিলের মা বলল আমাদের বাড়িতে এইসব চলবে না এইসব বাপের বাড়ি গিয়ে করবে সেই দিন অনিল একটু ও প্রতিবাদ করল না। 

            যাই হোক এইভাবে কেটে গেল দুবছর। মৌ ভাবল এবার আমাকে একটা নিজের ফ্ল্যাট কিনতে হবে হয়ত আমি সেখানে নিজের মতো করে থাকব কেউ কথা শুনাবে না। মৌ ও অনিল দুজন মিলে একটা ফ্ল্যাট কিনল। সেই দিন মৌ এর কি আনন্দ আজ যেন তার মন আকাশে  উড়ার স্বপ্ন দেখছে। পাখি যেমন খাঁচা থেকে মুক্তি পেলে আনন্দ পায় ঠিক সেই রকম। মৌ এর মা বাবা, অনিলের মা বাবা সবাই এলো। খুব ভাল ভাবে কাটল দিনটা। হঠাৎ অনিলের মা মৌকে কথা বলতে বলতে বলে উঠল মৌ আমরা যে ছেলেকে কষ্ট করে মানুষ করেছি আজ সার্থক হল। ছেলে আমার এত বড় ফ্ল্যাট কিনতে পারল। এখানে তুমি ভদ্রভাবে থাকবে আর মনে রাখবে এখানে কিন্তু তোমার থেকে আমাদের অধিকার অনেক বেশি। অনিল তখন ও চুপ। মৌ মনে মনে ভাবল ওরা কি আমাকে একটু আপন বলে ভাবতে পারে না? অনিলের উপর ও মৌ এর খুব রাগ হয়েছিল। সেই দিন অনিলকে বলল এই ফ্ল্যাটটা কি শুধু তোমাদের? অনিল বলল তুমি তো জান মা কেমন রাগ কর কেন?

মৌ সারা রাত কেঁদে কাঁটাল অনিল ফিরে ও তাকাল না। হয়ত অনিল সেই রাতে বুঝেও না বোঝার ভান করে রইল। মা আর বউ দুজন ই তার কাছে আপন। সে ভাবল ঝামেলা না বাড়িয়ে চুপ করে গেলে হয়ত সব ঠিক হয়ে যাবে। কিন্তু মৌ ভাবছিল যার হাত ধরে মা বাবাকে ছেড়ে এলাম সে ও নিজের নয়। 

      মৌ এর একটা ছেলে হল। এবার ফ্ল্যাট বাড়িতে ছেলেকে দেখবে কে তাই এবার ও মৌকে নিজের স্বপ্ন বিসর্জন দিতে হল। সে চাকরিটা ছেড়ে দিল। এখন সারাদিন ছেলের যত্ন, পড়াশুনা ঘরের কাজ এইসব করতে করতে ওর দিন চলে যায়। নিজের কথা ভাবার ও সময় হয়না। সে যেন আস্তে আস্তে নিজের অস্তিত্ব হারিয়ে ফেলছে। মৌ এর কিছু করার নাই সে সব বুঝে ও নীরব দর্শক। 

এখন মৌ আর সহ্য করতে পারে না মাঝে মধ্যে অনিলের সাথে খুব কথা কাটাকাটি হয়। অনিলের ও অফিসে এখন খুব কাজ বেড়েছে সে ও রেগে গিয়ে মৌকে বলে দেয় তোমার বাড়ি তুমি চলে যাও আমাকে একা থাকতে দাও তোমাদের মেয়েদের এইসব ঝামেলা আর ভাল লাগে না। কাজ তো করতে হয়না ঘরে বসে আছ তাই মাথায় এইসব চলে। যেই ছেলে একদিন মৌয়ের বাবার বাড়ির জন্য মন খারাপ হলে বলত এটা তো তোমার বাড়ি যা খুশি কর মন খারাপ করছ কেন? সে এখন এমন কথা বলে। কিন্তু মৌ এর যে আর কিছু করার নাই। সে যে আজ একজন মা। কি করে সব ছেড়ে যাবে। সে জানে সে চাইলে নিজের ব্যবস্থা নিজে করতে পারবে। কিন্তু কি করে ছেড়ে যাবে? ছেলেকে একা  নিয়ে গেলে ছেলেটার ও যে কষ্ট হবে সে ও যে বাবার আদর পাবে না।  এই ছেলের জন্য তো অনিল ও দিনরাত পরিশ্রম করছে। তাই মৌকেই সব মানিয়ে নিতে হল।  

         মৌ এর ছেলে ও দেখতে দেখতে বড় হয়ে উঠল। সে এখন চাকরি করছে।  ছেলে অন্য শহরে চাকরি করে সেখানে ফ্ল্যাট নিয়েছে। মৌয়ের এখন বয়স হয়েছে, সে প্রায় সময় অসুস্থ থাকে। তাই তার ছেলে মৌকে এখন তার ছেলের বাড়িতে নিয়ে যেতে এসেছে। মৌ আজ ও নীরব দর্শক আজ ও তার কিছু করার নেই মানিয়ে নেওয়া ছাড়া। আজ ও মৌ নিজের বাড়ি খুঁজে পেলনা বটে, কিন্তু মৌয়ের বাবা মা, শশুর শাশুড়ি বা অনিল কারো পক্ষে কি সম্ভব হত মৌকে ছাড়া সংসার গড়া।

                                             Girls do not have their own address

       Home is a place where everyone can live in peace and security. Whether the house is a hut or a building, the house is a place where people can exercise their rights for the rest of their lives. If we go to visit somewhere, after a while I think then we will go home and sleep peacefully.

       But are girls homeless? If someone wants to know our home address, we say father's address before marriage, husband after marriage, son's address in old age. Do you know why girls do not have an address? There is no permanent home of a nomadic nation. Girls are just like nomads.

       Where a daughter is born, where she is brought up in the care of her parents, which she considers her own home, over time she has no right to that house, she has to take someone else's house as her own. However, according to the traditional customs of our society, girls do not leave their familiar home and adopt another home as their own. But has anyone ever think how much the girls suffer?

        Mou is the only daughter of the parents. There is nothing lacking in Mou's caress at her father's house.She makes their house beautiful with her mother. But when she grows up, she has to get married. She got married to Anil. Like other girls, she had to leave that familiar house and go to Anil's house. Everyone told her that Anil is your everything from now on. His house is your house. Tears came to her eyes with difficulty. It was as if a fear was working in her mind and she had to go to a place where she did not know anyone and spend her whole life.

         Mou was slowly adjusting to Anil's house. Although she had to listen to a lot of things, she was adapting to everything. One day Mou wear a Kurti to go to the office. Anil's mother said that these things will not work in our house. Anil did not protest that day.

       Anyway, two years passed like this. Mou thought that this time she would have to buy her own flat, where she live a peaceful life independently. Mou and Anil bought a flat together. What a joy Mou had that day, as if her mind was dreaming of flying in the sky. Just like a bird gets pleasure when it is released from the cage. Mou's parents, Anil's parents all came. It was a very good day. 

Suddenly Anil's mother spoke to Mou Today our life is successful, My boy was able to buy me such a big flat. You will be polite here and remember that here we have more rights than you. Anil was also silent at that time. Mou were very angry. That day she said to Anil, is this flat only for yours? Anil said to Mou, you know how mother is? Why are you angry?

       Mou cried all night but Anil did not look back. Maybe Anil pretended not to understand that night. Mother and wife are close to him. He thought that if he kept quiet without increasing the trouble, maybe everything would be fine. But Mou thought that there is no one of her own.

      Mou gave birth of a son. Who will take care the boy in the flat, so this time too Mou has to give up her dream. She quit her job. Now he spends all day caring for her son and doing housework. There is no time to think about herself. It is as if she is slowly losing her existence but Mou has nothing to do, she understands everything and is a silent spectator.

 Now Mou was to much irritated . Sometimes there is a lot of quarrel with Anil. Anil was also busy to his office work now and he gets angry and tells Mou,go to your own house, leave me alone. You don't have to work, you are sitting at home, so these things go on in your head. The boy who once said to Mou when she was upset why are you upset this is your house, whatever you want, you do ?" 

But Today Anil was very much annoyed to Mou. But Mou has nothing else to do. She is a mother today. How to leave everything. She knows she can make her own arrangements

  if she wants to. But how to leave? If the boy is taken alone, the boy will suffer and he will not get the affection of the father. Anil is working day and night for this boy. So Mou had to sacrifices again.

      Mou's son also grew up. He is working now. The boy got a job in another city and got a flat there. Mou is now old, she stays sick almost all the time. So her son now come to take Mou to her son's house. Today Mou also silent spectator and she has nothing to do but adapt. 

            Today, Mou can't find her own home, but would it have been possible for Mou's parents, mother-in-law or Anil to build a family without Mou?
